Call To Light is an investigation into the beating heart of the human condition, exploring the inter-relationship of familial connections and the profound juxtaposition of our physical temporality with a sense of beauty, belonging and the eternal. Shooting from a frontal perspective and manipulating the interplay of various light sources the project alternates only three photographic set-ups – the individual portrait, a family portrait or a portrait of a domestic animal. The artist employs a chromatic variation specific to each shoot and the light confers on all of the portraits an intense and heightened quality of ‘being’. The subjects of the portraiture in Call To Light come via an ongoing open call for participation of the public, providing a unique cross-section of contemporary society. These subjects enter the unique physical space created for Call To Light to be shot, in which the spectator is invited to follow the artist on a path from here to eternity…
